The newly appointed Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp  has challenged some of his star players including Emre Can  to make improvements following their draw with Tottenham on Saturday.

Emre Can played the full 90 minutes in the German managers first game in charge of the Reds.

The 21 -year-old played in midfield despite playing the majority of last year in defence under Brendan Rodgers.

“Emre Can? Learning between running and passing. He can learn,” Klopp was quoted as saying by the Mirror.

“Everything is there… We just have to create a situation where it’s possible to do these things. There’s pressure but not the biggest pressure, these guys are running for their life.”

Can featured as a holding midfielder in Klopp’s 4-2-3-1 and put in a decent defensive performance but his passing was poor.

The 21-year-old received a rating of 7.2 from WhoScored making him the sixth highest rated player. Can achieved just a 73.1 percent pass accuracy during the game.

The Reds managed to keep their first clean in nine games in what was a scrappy encounter. Klopp was appointed as Brendan Rodgers replacement during the two-week international break and took take charge of his first league game against Spurs.
