Middlesbrough take on Arsenal in the FA Cup 5th Round on Sunday 16 February 2015 with the chance to progress to the quarter-finals.
Boro coach Aitor Karanka has underlined that he is looking forward to meeting Mesut Özil.
Karanka used to coach Özil when he was Jose Mourinho’s assistant manager at Real Madrid.
“I’ve not spoken to him in the build-up to the game because it’s been a busy week, but I hope to see him afterwards on Sunday,” Karanka told the Express.
Özil has played five games since returning from a long spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury he sustained last October.
The Arsenal star has now scored three times and created two assists in his last four games in all competitions for Arsenal.
Boro are currently 1st in the Championship with 59 points from 30 games this season.
The Championship side knocked out Manchester City in the last round and will be in search of another Premier League scalp against Arsenal.
The Gunners are the reigning FA Cup champions and considering their position in the Premier League table the cup is currently the Gunners most realistic chance at winning silverware this season.
