Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has revealed that he wants Wesley Sneijder to join Southampton but does not believe the club can match his wages.

“I’m interested, but I know we can’t pay him. There’s nothing in it,” Koeman said at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Everton game.

Southampton have been closely linked with Sneijder however, Galatasaray board member Abdurrahim Albayrak denied receiving an offer for the Netherlands international.

“We have not received any offers up to now,” Albayrak said when asked about interest from Southampton and Manchester City.

“We would actually really like him [Sneijder] to stay and have no intention of parting ways with him.”

Manchester United and Manchester City are also reported to be interested in the former Champions League winner.

The Netherlands international joined Galatasaray from Inter in 2013 for €8 million and still has just under two-years left on his contract.
