Leicester City target joins Schalke 04 on a three year deal

Leicester City target Gökhan İnler has joined Bundesliga side Schalke 04 on a three year deal according to DHA.

The report states that the Switzerland international has put pen-to-paper on a deal keeping him in Germany until 2018. The Bundesliga outfit agreed a €7 million fee to sign the 31-year-old.

Leicester City were close to completing the transfer of Inler from Napoli according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Foxes’ newly appointed manager Claudio Ranieri revealed earlier this week that he was close to securing a replacement for Esteban Cambiasso.

The Argentinian international recently confirmed that he will leave Leicester according to the BBC. The former Inter Milan player released a statement saying that he will not renew his current deal with the Foxes.

Inler scored one goal in 33 appearances for Napoli in all competitions last season.

Leicester pulled off the ‘great-escape’ last season to beat the drop. The foxes ended the season in 14th place with 41 points.
