Liverpool’s star midfielder Emre Can has stated that his side are targeting a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.

The 22-year-old also heaped praise on the ‘warm-hearted and open’ people of Liverpool.

“Everyone knows that Liverpool against Manchester United is a clasico. When I was in Germany, if I got the chance to watch this game, I always would,” Can told the Liverpool Echo.

“I like the people in Liverpool. They come up and talk to me when I’m out and about in town,

“I like the way they treat me. They are very warm-hearted and open. They often come up and slap me on the shoulder.

“We will give our best. Liverpool are a top club and we should be in the top four and that’s definitely our target.”

Can will be looking to build upon his impressive performance against Arsenal on Wednesday.

The former Bayer Leverkusen man took 75 touches, made 39 accurate passes and two key passes according to Opta stats. Can also contributed defensively with two tackles, three interceptions and an impressive 12 defensive duels won.

Can is once again set to start in midfield alongside James Milner and Jordan Henderson. Liverpool can move up to 6th place with a win over their rivals tomorrow.

The Germany international has provided one assist and one goal in 29 appearances for Liverpool this season.
