Benfica’s Maxi Pereira has met with club representatives to request a move to Besiktas.

Besiktas have been closely linked with the Uruguay international in recent weeks and have agreed personal terms with Pereira.

However, Benfica’s high transfer fee demands have proved to be a stumbling block for Besiktas.

The Portuguese club have also offered the right back a new improved deal.

Beşiktaş vice-president Ahmet Nur Çebi recently revealed that they are interested in the Uruguayan international.

“Our first choice is Maxi Pereira,” Çebi was quoted as saying on Eurosport Turkey.

“However, there are a lot of clubs interested in him.”

Liverpool are also targeting a move for Benfica right-back Maxi Periera during the January transfer window according to the Mirror newspaper.

The Black Eagles have played much of the season without a right-back due to injuries and a lack of depth.

Beşiktaş have also been linked with Sporting’s Junior Caiçara, Dinamo Zagreb’s Ivo Pinto, Cruzeiro’s Mayke and Udinese’s Cameroon international Nyom.
