Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp's pressing football 'works for me' says Emre Can

Emre Can has stated that Jurgen Klopp’s style of pressing football suits his own style of play.

The 21-year-old went onto say that Klopp – who was appointed in place of Brendan Rodgers earlier this season – ‘lives football’.

“We’re playing an extreme pressing style. It works for me. I still think we can finish high in the table,” Can told Kicker.

“I’ve experienced some different coaches, like Juup Heynckes and Sami Hyypia, but Klopp is different.

He lives football, in every game and training session, so emotionally.”

Klopp has in turn been full of praise regarding the development of Can playing in a central midfield role.

“It’s absolutely no problem to play in different positions. In the German national team he sometimes plays full-back; for sure it’s not his best position but he can play it,” Klopp told the official Liverpool website.

Can moved to Liverpool as a midfielder last season but played as a defender under the stewardship of former Red’s boss Brendan Rodgers.

The 21-year-old has been moved back into his preferred midfield position following the appointment of Klopp but he also underlined that Can has to be versatile and accept playing in positions he is unfamiliar with for the greater good of the team.

Liverpool take on the Premier League leaders Leicester City on Boxing Day.

Emre Can has provided one assist and scored one goal in 24 appearances for Liverpool this season.
