Liverpool boss Rodgers impressed with Emre Can’s ‘outstanding’ display in midfield

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has expressed his delight at Emre Can’s performance in midfield during The Reds Europa League clash with Besiktas on Thursday.

Rodgers moved Can into midfield following injuries to Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson and Lucas Leiva.

The Reds were eliminated from the competition on the night after losing on penalties.

“I thought he was outstanding in the middle,” Rodgers told the Mirror.

“He is such a top class football player. His pace, his power, his ability to read the game and his ability to take the ball are all so impressive.”
