Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he wants to go all the way to the Europa League final and win the tournament.

Rodgers will have to get past Beşiktaş first and has underlined that he expects a tough game from the Turkish giants.

“We want to do everything we can to win a trophy. It’s a very prestigious competition and this is a tough game with Besiktas. We want to take lead away,” Rodgers was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

Liverpool secured a place in the Round of 32 after being knocked out of the Champions League group stages in third-place.

The Reds last won the Europa League under its former name the UEFA Cup back in 2000-01.

Liverpool last European trophy was however, the 2004-05 Champions League title which they lifted in Istanbul, at the Atatürk Olympic stadium.

The Reds will take on Beşiktaş in the Europa League return leg on Thursday 26 February at the Atatürk Olympic.

The first-leg will however, be played at Anfield on Thursday February 19. The last time Liverpool took on Beşiktaş at home they won 8-0 back in the 2007-08 Champions League group stages.
