Liverpool & Celtic among 6 clubs to determine which Champions League pot Turkish champions enter

Liverpool & Celtic among 6 clubs to determine which Champions League pot Turkish champions enter

Besiktas booked a place in the Champions League group stages after winning the Turkish league for a second season running.

The Black Eagles will however, have to wait to see if they will enter the draw in Pot 3 or 4.

Liverpool will be one of six sides that determine which pot Besiktas will enter the group stages from.

The Reds, Napoli, Dinamo Kiev, Ajax and Olympiakos must make it past the playoffs if they want to enter the group stage.

All the clubs mentioned above will enter Pot 3 should they make it past the playoff round.

However, if at least two of the listed clubs fail to progress Besiktas will find themselves in Pot 3.

Otherwise the Black Eagles will be drawn from Pot 4.

Liverpool will automatically enter Pot 3 if they make it past the playoff round.

The Reds could however, face Turkish league runners-up Basaksehir who are among the unseeded teams – Liverpool are seeded.

The current guaranteed pots are as follows:

Pot 1: Real Madrid, Bayern Münih, Juventus, Benfica, Chelsea, Shakhtar Donetsk, Monaco, Spartak Moscow

Pot 2: Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, PSG, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City, Porto, Manchester United
