Liverpool – Crystal Palace – Emre Can set to make 39th appearance this season

Liverpool take on Crystal Palace hoping to keep their slim chances of Champions League qualification alive.

The main talking point will obviously be captain Steven Gerrard bidding his farewell to the Reds faithful before leaving Liverpool in the summer.

Today’s other less celebrated story however, is that Emre Can will make his 39th appearance for the Reds.

Can has started as a right-back recently and is expected to keep his place on the right side of defence.

Can joined Liverpool as a central midfielder but has featured mainly as a member of Rodgers back-three or more recently as a right-back.

The 21-year-old will however, replace – Gerrard in midfield next season according to the Daily Mail.

The Mail reports that Rodgers is planning to play Andre Wisdom at right back despite the player falling out of favour under Tony Pulis at West Brom.

Can will be promoted to central midfield, a position he played at Bayer Leverkusen before joining the Reds on a £9.75 million move in the summer.
