Emre Can stated that Liverpool fans are already familiar with Cristian Benteke in an interview published on the official Liverpool website.
The 21-year-old was full of praise for his new teammates who joined from Aston Villla over the summer transfer window.
“Christian is another very strong player, he works very hard. We see in the training groups just how much effort he puts in,” Can said.
“And the Liverpool fans have already seen last season what a robust player he is. He’s also good in the air, and all round a very good purchase for us.”
Benteke was signed on a £32.5 million transfer strengthening the Reds forward line following the exit of Raheem Sterling.
Liverpool have had a busy summer signing James Milner, Adam Bogdan, Roberto Firmino, Joe Gomez and Nathaniel Clyne over the transfer window.
Can trained together with all his new teammates for the first time last week at the Melwood grounds.
The 21-year-old is expected to move into a central midfield role after spending most of last season playing as a defender in Brendan Rodgers back-three and as a right-back towards the end of the league campaign.
The Reds face Stoke City in their opening Premier League game on the weekend at the Britannia Stadium.
