Liverpool are interested in Beşiktaş striker Demba Ba according to Turkish newspaper Yeni Şafak.

The Reds are reported to be keeping tabs of the Black Eagles striker who has scored 10 goals in 14 appearances since joining from Chelsea for £6 million this summer.

Ba famously scored against Liverpool last season while playing for the Blues. Steven Gerrard’s infamous slip against Chelsea allowed Ba a free run on goal to give the Blues the lead.

Liverpool’s title challenge suffered a huge blow following the 2-0 loss.

The Senegalese international striker scored 50 goals during his stint in England. Ba played for West Ham, Newcastle and Chelsea before joining Beşiktaş.

The powerful striker had eight goals and three assists in all competitions for Chelsea last season. Ba revealed that Jose Mourinho wanted him to stay but that he wanted a new challenge as a regular first-team player.

“It’s hard when you are always on the bench, but you just have to keep your head up and work hard,”Ba was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

“I could have stayed because I spoke to Jose and he was impressed with the end of the season had.

“He told me I would have a better position this season, but i just wanted to go and enjoy myself.”

The 29-year-old became the first Beşiktaş player to score seven UEFA competition goals in one season following his brace against Partizan.

Ba already has a total of 10 goals and three assists this season for the Black Eagles.
