Çalhanoğlug has scored 10 times and provided eight assists in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit.

The 21-year-old has a reputation as a set-piece specialist. Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola rates the 21-year-old as one of the best free-kick takers in the league.

“Çalhanoğlu is one of the best free-kick takers in the Bundesliga,” Guardiola told Hurriyet.

Çalhanoğlu has scored seven direct free-kicks in the Bundesliga in his career despite being just 21-years-old.

The Turkish international was also named best young player of the 2013/14 season by leading German football magazine 11 Freunde.

Çalhanoğlu joined Bayer for €14.5 million this summer – the highest fee ever paid for a Turkish international.

The highly rated young midfielder scored the winning goal against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League Last 16 first leg and is expected to start in the second game in Madrid.
