Can received a rating of 7.12 from Whoscored and was the third highest rated defender in the game. The 21-year-old made six successful tackles, one interception and two clearances. The former Bayer Leverkusen man played the full 120 minutes.

The game was marred in controversy as Chelsea striker Diego Costa stood on Can’s ankle in the 12th minute of the match. Referee Michael Oliver failed to spot the incident as his view was blocked by Reds midfielder Jordan Henderson.

The former Bayer Leverkusen player was born in Germany but can represent either his country of birth of Turkey at international level due to being of Turkish heritage.
