Liverpool midfielder happy to be back in Melwood ahead of Stoke City clash

Liverpool news: Emre Can Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool star Emre Can has stated that he happy to be back in Melwood for pre-season training.

The Red’s take on Stoke City on 9 August in their opening game of the 2015-16 Premier League season. Liverpool will be looking to exact revenge after they were beaten 6-1 by the Potters in the last game of last season.

“I am glad to be back,” Emre Can told Liverpool’s official website.

“It’s good to be back in Liverpool, and especially Melwood, after three weeks’ holiday, and it’s good to be playing football again.”

The 21-year-old midfielder-come-defender has had a busy summer and featured in the U21 European Championships with Germany. Can’s crashed out of the competition following a 5-0 defeat against Portugal in the semi-finals.

Can will be hoping to move into central midfield this season after spending the last league campaign as a makeshift defender in Rodgers back-three and to a lesser extent a right-back.

The Germany u21 international made a total of 27 appearances for Liverpool last season and also featured in the FA Cup and Europa League.
