Liverpool’s midfielder Lucas Leiva’s move to Galatasaray has been put in doubt following news of a knee injury.

According to the Liverpool Echo newspaper, the 29-year-old will miss around a month of football, meaning he will miss the Reds Premier League clash with Arsenal in August.

Leiva suffered an injury during the 2-0 victory over Huddersfield earlier this week. The Reds travel to the US next for the next part of their summer tour but it remains to be seen if Lucas will make the trip.

Galatasaray have been closely linked with Lucas who wants wants a guaranteed €3.5 million per-season contract from Galatasaray according to Fanatik. The daily Turkish paper states that the Istanbul giants have made Liverpool a €3 million offer for the Brazilian midfielder but want Lucas to lower his wage demands.

Galatasaray have been in pursuit of a central midfielder since Felipe Melo joined Inter Milan on transfer deadline day last summer.

The Istanbul giants will be able to fully focus on the league campaign next season as they have been issued a one-year European competition from from UEFA for failing to meet FFP regulations.
