Liverpool news: Ex-Reds goalkeeper urges Euro giants to sign star midfielder

Former Liverpool goalkeeper and Austria international Alex Manninger has urged Serie A champions Juventus to sign Emre Can.

The keeper – who also previously played for Juventus – has stated that the Italian giants will be signing a winner if they manage to lure Emre Can to Turin.

“He [Can] is young and is a player I’ve always admired,” Manninger told ilbianconero.

“He is still young but is already very strong. He plays like a veteran. He knows how to defend and how to score goals.

“Can is a winner and Juventus will make no mistake if they sign him. He has great charisma and never wants to lose. He has Turkish blood but German technique.”

Can’s long-term future at Juventus has been cast in doubt after the 23-year-old failed to sign a contract extension with Liverpool. The Germany international has under nine months remaining on his contract with the Merseyside based club.

Juventus tabled an offer for Can over the Summer but Liverpool resisted all bids for their star man. Can recently stated that he was honoured to have received a bid from Juventus.

The former Bayer Leverkusen man scored his first international goal for the Germany national team on Sunday.

Can is available for selection this weekend when Liverpool take on their rivals Manchester United in the Premier League.
