Liverpool news: Germany international claims he has played through pain barrier for an incredible eight months

Germany international midfielder Emre Can has claimed that he has been playing through the pain barrier.

During an interview with Bild, the powerful midfielder stated that he played despite being injured for eight months.

Can went onto state that the calf injury did affect his form.

The former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder’s contract with Liverpool expire in a little over 12 months.

Can was the star of the show during the Reds 1-0 win over Watford FC. The 23-year-old scored a contender for Goal of the Season via a perfectly executed overhead kick.

The Germany international’s form has improved in recent weeks and Can has put this down to finding full fitness for the first time this season.

“It is very nice, a good feeling for every professional to be without pain,” Can told German outlet Bild.

“The first seven, eight months were very difficult for me because I always dragged the calf injury.

“It was only in the last four or five games that I was able to play free.”

“I’d take the joy of being free of pain, over the fact that I have a dream goal.”

Liverpool were held to a 0-0 draw on Sunday by Southampton. The Reds find themselves in third place with 70 points after 36 games.

Liverpool travel to London to take on West Ham United on Sunday as they look to return to winning ways.
