Liverpool receive boost as Juventus pull out of race to sing Gundogan

Liverpool have received a boost in the race to sign Ilkay Gundgoan after Juventus cool interest in the Germany international.

Gundgoan was previously identified as a priority target by Juve but have subsequently denied interest in the 25-year-old. Dortmund rejected a €30 million bid from Juventus for Gundogan according to Goal.

“Why would we go after Gundogan if we already have Marchisio?” Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta was quoted as saying by Tuttosport (via Goal).

“We have a number of solutions in the area of the pitch, but Gundogan is not one of the names we have been discussing. Others have been linking him with Juventus.

“Plus I believe Dortmund do not want to sell him anyway.”

The midfield playmaker has been linked with a move to Liverpool since the appointment of Jugen Klopp. Sportmediaset [as per the Daily Star] have reported that the Red’s are eyeing a £22 million move for the deep-lying playmaker.

The deep-lying playmaker has five assists and two goals for Dortmund in 28 appearances this season.
