Liverpool receive boost as Barcelona cool interest in £90m star, Turkey star could end up taking Neymar’s place

Liverpool have received a boost in their efforts to keep hold of star man Philippe Coutinho.

Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Barcelona have cooled interest in Coutinho and made Paulo Dybala their new transfer priority.

Barcelona were closely linked with the Liverpool man but have reportedly been put off by the Reds demanding £90 million.

The La Liga giants are now focused on signing Juventus star Dybala.

The report does not state that Barcelona have completely given up on Coutinho but for now it appears Liverpool are in the clear.

Barcelona attacking midfielder Arda Turan is one player who will be keeping a close eye on the latest developments.

The 30-year-old looked like he was headed for a summer exit but with Neymar leaving he could end up fighting for a first team spot.

In fact as things stand he is among one of the strongest candidates for the Brazilian’s position.

Turan played his best football in Neymar’s position – when the Brazil international was out – last season.

The former Turkey international scored eight of his 13 goals playing on the left wing last season while also providing four of his seven assists playing in Neymar’s usual position.

Barcelona are keen on finding a replacement but with the start of the league campaign approaching there is no guarantee the club will be able to find a suitable replacement in time.
