Liverpool recoup £63.2m after selling flop striker to Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have completed the £26.55 million transfer of Christian Benteke as reported by Transfermarkt.

The fee could end up rising to £32 million with add-ons which would recoup what they invested in the striker when he was signed from Aston Villa.

Benteke was also in talks with Turkish champions Besiktas before striking a deal with Palace. The Black Eagles wanted him on a one-year loan deal but the Reds were intent to sell the Belgium international on a permanent deal.

Liverpool have now netted themselves £63.62 million from transfer sales over the summer transfer window.

Transfermarkt have the Reds down as currently having earned £63.2 million from transfer this summer including £5.1 million from Fenerbahce for Martin Skrtel, £15.3m from Bournemouth for Jordan Ibe and £3.06m for Brad Smith and £13.18m from Stoke City for Joe Allen.

Skrtel has started all three games for the Istanbul this season recording his first clean sheet in the 3-0 win over Grasshoppers on Thursday in the Europa League. The experienced defender is expected to start in his first Super Lig game on Sunday.
