Additionally Mamadou Sakho has not played for the first-team since falling out with head coach Jurgen Klopp last summer.

The Reds are expected to strengthen their defence over the transfer window. Liverpool have conceded the highest number of goals in the top six (36).

The Reds could face competition from Chelsea and Manchester United who are both interested in the defender according to Express.

Fenerbahce value Kjaer as being worth €20 million and will listen to offers that match their valuation due to having to meet Financial Fair Play regulations.

Kjaer has however, underlined that he wants to stay in Istanbul and that he is settled at the club.

“I have no intention of leaving Turkey, Turkish football has taught me a lot,” he told Turkish outlet Fotospor.

“I have improved to have more responsibility, some of the matches I have played are like something I haven’t experienced anywhere in the world.”

Kjaer has been in great form this season and made the UEFA Europa League Team of the Group Stages.
