Liverpool are set to miss out on Borussia Dortmund’s star midfielder Ilkay Gundogan according to SkySports.
The report states that Gundogan is in ‘advanced talks’ with City over a summer move.
The Premier League broadcaster go onto state that the in-bound Pep Guardiola sees the 25-year-old as a key part of his plans when he takes over on July 1.
Liverpool have been closely linked with the midfielder according to the Daily Star newspaper. Reds boss Jurgen Klopp does of course know Gundogan well from his time in charge of Dortmund in fact he is credited with his development.
Gundogan is likely to feature against Liverpool in the Europa League quarter-final second leg at Anfield.
The Germany international missed the Round of 32 tie against Tottenham and the first-leg of the Liverpool clash. Gundogan was expected to also miss the return game but he has recovered in time.
