Liverpool star demands improvement following 4-0 defeat

Liverpool v Everton Liverpool news Emre Can Liverpool star man of the match

Liverpool’s star midfielder Emre Can has urged his side to improve ahead of their Premier League opener against Arsenal this weekend.

The Red’s succumbed to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Mainz last week, which was particularly surprising seeing that they defeated Barcelona by the same scoreline shortly before.

Can has said that he knows Liverpool can perform better and will be prepared for the clash with the Gunners.

“We performed very, very well against Barcelona but Mainz was not a good game. You can say we’re tired but that’s no reason to play like that and we know we can do better,” Can was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

“We want to play better next week, of course, and we have one more week to prepare well for the game.”

However, Can is an injury doubt for the opening Premier League clash of the season against Arsenal.

The  22-year-old started against Barcelona but could only manage 45 minutes and only played the first half in the 4-0 defeat against Mainz 05 on Sunday.

There are concerns regarding Can’s fitness and he is may not start against the Gunners but is expected to be included in the line-up.
