Liverpool star not ready to take on Steven Gerrard role

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has stated that he can be a leader like Jordan Henderson and James Milner in the Red’s midfielder.

However, the 22-year-old went onto say he isn’t quite ready to take on the Steven Gerrard role.

“I have played a lot of games for Liverpool now and know I am still young but I have to show it on the pitch now,” Emre Can was quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo

“I can say I am a leader but you have to show it. Of course we have other leaders like Hendo or Milner. We all want to do it.

“I am like that. I want to be the one pushing the team on of course. As I said I want to show that to everyone.”

Can spent time with Liverpool legend Seven Gerrard during his holiday in the States. The combative midfielder had lunch with the former England international.

I met him in LA and we went for lunch. It’s always great to see Stevie,” Can told Liverpool FC.

Gerrard won the 2005 Champions League with Liverpool and is widely regarded as one of the most iconic players in the history of the club. Can recently revealed in the past he would love to become a world class player like Gerrard in the future.
