Liverpool striker extends condolences over 1999 Izmit earthquake

Liverpool youngster Samed Yesil has taken to Instagram to extended his condolences to the victims of the 1999 Izmit earthquake on the 16th anniversary of the natural disaster.

The 1999 İzmit earthquake had a magnitude of 7.6 and occurred on 17 August. The earthquake lasted for almost a minute and resulted in the death of 17,000 people.

Izmit and the nearby city of Istanbul were effected by the earthquake in which many buildings were damaged and hundreds of thousands of people were left homeless.

 

Yeşil has recently stated that he is looking forward to the upcoming season.

The former Bayer Leverkusen man scored three goals in his last two appearances for Liverpool U21’s during pre-season and could break into the first team this season.

Yeşil missed most of last season with a double cruciate ligament injury but did make a full recovery towards the end of the league campaign.
