Liverpool target Ilkay Gundogan stars against Augsburg

Chelsea transfer news

Ilkay Gündoğan played a major role in Borussia Dortmund’s 5-1 victory over Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

The 25-year-old played the full 90 minutes and received and provided the assist for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s opening goal in the 18th minute.

Gündoğan received a rating of 7.9 from whoscored after providing one key pass, making two interceptions and two clearances. The Germany international also maintained a passing accuracy of 82%.

The highly rated midfielder has been linked with a move to Liverpool ever since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp earlier this month.

Gündoğan recently played down reports linking him with a move away from Borussia Dortmund but opted not to rule them out completely.

“About my future? I currently have no idea. This is very, very far away,” Gündoğan told Sport1.

Gündoğan has started the season well in the Bundesliga under Dortmund’s new manager Thomas Tuchel. Dortmund sit in second place in the Bundesliga with 23 points in ten games.
