Liverpool target Mario Gomez set to join Besiktas

Liverpool target Mario Gomez is set to join Besiktas according to the Sky Italy reporter Gianluca Di Marzio.

Di Marzio goes onto say that Gomez is expected to put pen-to-paper on a deal with Besiktas by Tuesday.

Beşiktaş recently completed the transfer of Ricardo Quaresma but are desperate to sign a striker following the sale of Demba Ba to Chinese giants Shanghai Shenhua for €14 million.

The Black Eagles have also been closely linked with Loic Remy and Dame N’Doye over the summer.

The Independent recently stated that Liverpool are considering swapping Mario Balotelli with Mario Gomez.

Gomez has a grand total of 166 goals in 308 appearances in all competitions throughout his professional career.

Besiktas will compete in the Europa League this season after finishing the Turkish Super Lig in third place behind Fenerbahce and Galatasaray.

The Germany international provided four assists and scored ten goals in 32 appearances for Fiorentina last season.
