Liverpool team news: International duo set for return, Henderson a major doubt

Liverpool team news: Reds captain Jordan Henderson is a major doubt for this this weekend’s encounter with Manchester City.

Liverpool have the opportunity to overtake City in the Premier League and move into third place. Jurgen Klopp’s side can also bolster their UEFA Champions League hopes by moving eight points clear of Arsenal.

Emre Can is expected to retain his place at the base of Liverpool’s three-man midfield in Henderson’s absence. Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana – who have been in impressive form of late – are set to start at the heart of midfield.

Roberto Firmino is expected to return to the squad but is unlikely to start. The Brazil international missed Liverpool’s victory over Burnley last weekend.

Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho have both participated in first team training this week and are expected to start.

Croatia international Dejan Lovren has been declared fit and may be given a starting place alongside Joel Matip at centre-back.

Liverpool are without a win in their last four games away from home.
