Liverpool team news: Jurgen Klopp facing injury worries ahead of Chelsea clash

Liverpool take on their title rivals Chelsea tonight in this weekend’s blockbuster Premier League fixture.

The clash takes place at Anfield while kick-off is scheduled for 17:30 (GMT).

Jurgen Klopp’s side will be desperate to bounce back from Tuesday night’s disappointing 3-3 draw with Sevilla. Chelsea meanwhile come into tonight’s clash following three wins in a row.

Liverpool team news:

Klopp will be sweating over the fitness of Joel Matip. The Cameroon international has shaken off a thigh injury and will be a much-needed addition to Liverpool’s shaky defence.

Meanwhile Adam Lallana could make a surprise appearance this weekend. The England international has returned to training after a long spell on the sidelines.

Emre Can is also an injury doubt going into tonight’s clash. The 23-year-old has started Liverpool’s last two games on the bench.

“Adam is on his way, no doubt about that,” Klopp told reporters on Friday at Melwood.

“We have to see how we will handle this in the next few days and weeks. Joel trained yesterday for the first time with the team and, again, we have to to see as well. But both give good signs – nothing else to say about that in the moment.”

“He [Emre Can] struggles a little bit.

“A strange situation in the game, a little muscle [issue]. It could be close – he is a doubt, let me say it like this.”
