Liverpool team news: Klopp dealt injury blow to captain Jordan Henderson & star player Firmino, Emre Can available

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was dealt an injury blow ahead of the Premier League clash against Burnley on Sunday after he revealed that Roberto Firmino might not be ready in time.

Firmino picked up the injury during Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Arsenal last weekend and has been unable to train third week.

Klopp was quoted on the official Liverpool website as saying in his pre-match press conference: “Unfortunately, Roberto Firmino has struggled a little bit. He felt something after the game and until now this week, he couldn’t train. We need to wait a little bit more and then we will see.”

The German manager will also be without team captain Jordan Henderson who has a foot injury and Daniel Sturridge who has a hip injury.

Germany international of Turkish origin Emre Can is therefore expected to keep his place in the team.

The 23-year-old has started the Reds last two games, replacing the injured Henderson.

Can started in the 3-1 defeat against Leicester City where he provided an assist and then in the 3-1 victory over Arsenal.

The young midfielder is likely to be joined by Gini Wijnaldum in midfield.

In other Liverpool team news Dejan Lovren is an injury doubt and Divock Origi could fill in for Firmino if he misses the Burnley clash.

Burnley meanwhile are without midfielder Steven Defour and Johann Berg Gudmundsson but Tom Heaton has recovered from illness and will return.

The relegation strugglers will also have Joey Barton available after recovering from a hamstring strain.
