Henderson has recovered from injury and has been working on his match fitness but the latest reports suggest he will not be ready in time.

With Henderson expected to miss the game Emre Can will be almost certain to start in central midfielder alongside Gini Wijnaldum.

Can has started the Reds last four games and has been in impressive form scoring the winning goal – and his first of 2017 – in the 2-1 victory over Burnley.

The Germany international of Turkish origin also starred in the 1-1 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad last week and the 3-1 won over Arsenal.

Can has been on international duty with Germany, the 23-year-old did not start against England or Azerbaijan but he did make a second half performance in both game.
