Liverpool team news: Klopp without star playmaker tongiht – Germany international returns to training ahead of Hoffenheim clash

Liverpool take on Bundesliga side Hoffenheim tonight in a UEFA Champions League qualification clash.

Jurgen Klopp’s side go into the second leg with a 2-1 advantage and know a draw will be enough to see them through to the group stages.

Liverpool come into tonight’s game in high spirits following their 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday. Hoffenheim also come into the game off the back of a 1-0 league win.

Liverpool team news:

Liverpool playmaker Phillipe Coutinho will miss tonight’s game due to an illness. The Brazil international isn’t expected to feature for Liverpool until after the international break.

Coutinho has been linked with a move away from Liverpool in recent weeks however, the Merseyside based club are prepared to reject a fourth bid from Barcelona for their star man.

Emre Can was an unused substitute over the weekend after missing training last week. The 23-year-old is however back to full-fitness and is available for selection tonight.

Daniel Sturridge played an hour over the weekend for the Reds and is in contention to start tonight.

Meanwhile, Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne will miss tonight’s clash due to injuries.
