Liverpool transfer news: Besiktas hold key to £30m Lacazette transfer, Arsenal also in the race

Liverpool transfer news: £30m Lacazette transfer could depend on Besiktas, Arsenal also in the race

Liverpool and Arsenal are both interested in signing £30m-rated Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette according to the Sun.

Both Premier League clubs will have a close eye on Lyon’s Europa League quarter-final clash against Besiktas next week.

If Besiktas eliminate Lyon from the Europa League they could end up dong one of Liverpool or Arsenal a favour in their pursuit of the French striker.

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas revealed that Lacazette will stay at the club if they win the Europa League.

Aulas told Le Parisien when asked about Lacazette and Tolisso leaving: “It’s a risk. I can assure you that if we win the Europa League they will not leave. They won’t want to leave.

“Then if they do have to go, there are worse things. That would mean that we’d have [financial] means greater than our needs.

“We finally have, after 15 years, the means for our ambitions.”

Lyon may not be able to hold onto Lacazette if Besiktas knock them out of the Europa League.

The Ligue 1 side would of course still have to get past the semi-finals and final if they get past Besiktas.

The 25-year-old France international has scored 29 times in all competitions this season and is expected to feature against Besiktas.

Lyon are favourites against Besiktas but the Black Eagles have an impressive recent record as underdogs.

The Istanbul giants knocked Liverpool out of the Europa League Round of 32 in 2014 and became the first team to beat Napoli away from home in the Champions League this season.
