Besiktas has suffered a blow in their hunt for a new striker after Christian Benteke completed his move to Crystal Palace.

According to the Guardian, Benteke has made the move to Palace on a £27 million deal. The Belgium international joined Liverpool last summer for £32 million but has endured a difficult season.

Benteke was also closely linked with a move to Besiktas earlier this week by the Daily Star. The Black Eagles are on the look-out for a new striker after last season top scorer Mario Gomez left to join Wolfsburg.

The BBC report that Liverpool had already rejected two bids from Palace and Besiktas were banking on his asking price not being reached going into the last days of the transfer window.

The Black Eagles will now continue efforts to sign a replacement for Mario Gomez who recently joined Wolfsburg on a permanent deal.
