Liverpool’s young striker Samed Yeşil was left on the bench during Luzern’s defeat at the hand of FC Basel in the Swiss Super League.

Luzern suffered a 3-0 loss on the road to the league leaders with all three goals coming in the first half.

Yeşil is on a season-long loan with FC Basel, who are managed by the former Liverpool defender Marcus Babbel.

FC Luzern sit in forth place in the league with 23 points in 17 games. Marcus Babble’s side take on Aarau next weekend.

Yeşil has provided two assists and scored just one goal in nine appearances for Luzurn this season. The former Bayer Leverkusen man joined Liverpool from the German side Bayern Leverkusen back in 2012 for £1 million.

Yeşil has made just two appearances for Liverpool after suffering a long term cruciate ligament injury last season.
