Liverpool youngster Samed Yesil plays small role in Luzern win

The Liverpool youngster Samed Yeşil played a minor role in Luzern’s 4-3 victory over Aarau in the Swiss League Cup last weekend.

Yeşil is currently on loan at the Swiss Super League side FC Luzern who are managed by the former Liverpool defender Markus Babbel.

The 21-year-old striker played just three minutes of the game after coming on as substitute for the Paraguay international Dario Lezcano.

Luzern won with goals from Hyka, Schneuwly and Lezcano. The Swiss side are now on their winter break and will return to league football in February.

Babbel’s side are currently in 4th place in the Swiss Super League with 26 points in 18 games.

The former Bayer Leverkusen man will be looking to make more of an impact in the second half of Luzern’s season. The young striker provided two assists and scored one goal in eight league appearances this season.

Yeşil joined Liverpool from the German side Bayern Leverkusen back in 2012 for £1 million. The 21-year-old has made two assists and found the back of the net just once in eight appearances for Luzurn this season.
