Liverpool youngsters struggled to cope with Besiktas atmosphere says Toure [divider]

Liverpool defender Kolo Toure revealed that the younger players in the team struggled to cope with the atmosphere at the Atatürk Olympic stadium against Beşiktaş in the Europa League Round of 32 second-leg.

“Was the atmosphere tough for the younger players? Definitely,” Toure told the official UEFA website.

The 33-year-old defender was among the more experienced members of the Liverpool team yesterday.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers gave several young players including 20-year-old Manquillo, 21-year-old Emre Can, 22-year-old Moreno, 20-year-old Sterling and 19-year-old Ibe a chance in the second leg.

The Reds have a youthful team with several of important players such as Can, Sterling and Ibe all under the age of 21.

Liverpool were without some of their more experienced players such as captain Steven Gerrard, Lucas and Jordan Henderson due to injury.

The game was played in front of a Europa League record crowd of 63,324 according to the official UEFA website.
