Liverpool’s Emre Can has ‘demanded’ to be played in midfield according to to the Daily Star.

The 21-year-old spent last season playing in a three-back and at right back despite being signed as a midfielder from Bayer Leverkusen.

“I’m looking forward to playing in midfield,” Can was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

“I’ve said it 100 times in the last days.”

Can put on an impressive display playing in midfield for the Germany U-21 side in the 2015 U-21 European Championships.

The Germany U-21 international is expected to move into midfield next season following the Red’s signing of Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton.

Can recently revealed that he has spoken with Rodgers about his desire to play in midfield and that the Reds boss also wants to see him play in the teams centre.

“Of course, we talked about this. The manager has said he sees me as a midfielder, and that’s where I want to play in the near future,” Can told the Anfield Wrap.

Can made a total of 27 appearances for the Premier League outfit this season and also featured in the FA Cup and Europa League.
