Lokomotiv Moscow striker Oumar Niasse confirmed that he received a bid from Galatasaray during the winter transfer window.
“Yes I received an offer but they had some financial issues so it did not go through,” Niasse told Turkish newspaper Milliyet.
Galatasaray were reported to have made a loan bid for the Senegal international.
Niasse worked with current Galatasaray manager Hazma Hamzaoğlu while at Akhisar and first really made a name for himself in Turkey.
The Senegalese international has had trouble finding a regular first team spot at his new team and is said to be looking for a move away from the club.
Niasse knows the Süper Lig well, the 24-year-old striker moved to Russia from Akhisar at the start of this season for €6.5 million.
The former Akhisar man has provided two assists and scored four goals in 11 games for Lokomotiv Moscow this season.
Galatasaray are currently third in the Süper Lig on 39 points after 18 games.
