Madzukic expected to start for Atletico Madrid says Simeone [divider]
Mario Madzukic is expected to start for Atletico Madrid against Olympiacos according to manager Diego Simeone.
“Olympiacos are a very strong team at home and our defeat there was no surprise to me. They competed very well in Malmo and Turin too and we expect more of the same,” Simeone said.
“We have to focus on the present, though, and tomorrow’s match is the only thing that matters to us.
“With intensity we will have the performance we want. Mario Mandžukić wants to play despite his injury. He is a very brave boy and gives us a lot of strength. It would be very difficult to tell him not to play.”
Atleti are currently first in Group A on nine points, three ahead of second place Olympiacos.
The La Liga champions would secure a place in the next round with a win against Olympiacos.
Turkish international Arda Turan is expected to start against the Greek champions.
