Man City defender has prayers answered following Galatasaray victory

Galatasaray on-loan defender Jason Denayer made his Turkish Super League debut against Trabzonspor on Saturday 19 September at the Avni Aker stadium.

Denayer shared an Instagram picture before the game alongside the caption: “praying is not complicated , it is speaking with his heart to God. #pray#make#me#stronger#allahuakbar.”

The 20-year-old had his prayers answered as Galatasaray beat Trabzonspor 1-0 despite the Black Sea Storm hitting the crossbar twice. The only goal of the game came as result of an own goal from M’bia.

Denayer made his second consecutive start after making his official club debut against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League midweek.

The Lions lost 2-0 against the Spanish giants but Denayer put in an impressive performance and despite being a centre-back he replaced experienced full-back Sabri Sarıoğlu at right back against Trabzonspor.

Denayer defended well against Trabzonspor making the joint highest number of tackles on the Galatasaray team and was not dispossessed once going forwards on his marauding runs.

The Istanbul giants closed the gap with leaders Trabzonspor and Fenerbahçe – who are tied on points – to just two points following the victory.
