‘Man City talks ongoing’ – Club official confirms second round of negotiations for Man United wonder kid target, Spurs also in race

‘Man City talks ongoing’ – Vice president confirms second round of negotiations for Cengiz Under

Basaksehir wonder kid Cengiz Under has attracted widespread interest from the Premier League this summer.

A source close to Under revealed to Turkish-Football that Basaksehir held four-hour long talks with City in Istanbul last Thursday.

City offered €8 million but Basaksehir were not prepared to accept lower than their €12 million asking price.

The Citizens have restarted talks with the Super Lig runners-up according to club vice-president Mustafa Saral.

The Premier League giants will return to Istanbul for the second time over the next few days.

“Man City talks are ongoing, we are still negotiating and they will travel to Istanbul for the second round of talks,” Saral said.

“Our aim is to get the maximum value from Under, we want him to go for a record fee.”

City are not the only club to have been linked with Under.

In fact club president Goksel Gumusdag revealed that they currently have four offers on the table.

“Cengiz has received offers from four European clubs,” Gumusdag was quoted as saying at a recent pre-season training day open to the media.

Basaksehir manager Abdullah Avci has also confirmed Manchester United and Tottenham interest.

Avci told TRT Spor: “Yes, it’s true there is some interest for Cengiz. It’s normal that the clubs like Tottenham and United are showing interest for him because the kid is a good footballer.”

Under was one of the players of the 2016-17 season and is already a first team regular for Turkey despite being aged just 19.

The Basaksehir wonder-kid has made no secret of the fact he wants Premier League football.

“The league I really want to play in is the Premier League and I would also love La Liga,” Under told beIN Turkey.

“I want to play for Manchester United or Chelsea, also Barcelona or Real Madrid.”

The rising star scored nine times and provided seven assists in all competitions last season.
