Man City team news: ‘My injury is nothing serious’ – Citizens star gives update ahead of Crystal Palace clash

Manchester City beat West Brom 2-1 at the Hawthorns on Wednesday 20 September in the Carabao Cup.

Ilkay Gundogan made his first start after spending 10 months sidelined with a knee injury.

Gundogan could not complete the full 90 minutes as he was injured by West Brom midfielder Claudio Yacob in the second half.

Yacob was shown a yellow card for the incident and went onto score the equaliser before Sane eventually found a winner.

The midfielder of Turkish origin assured his social media followers today that his injury is not serious.

Gundogan wrote the following on his official Instagram account: “Hi guys, thank you for all your messages once again. But I can tell you my injury is nothing serious. The medical staff found no significant damage and it was not the knee which was injured before. I only suffered a knee sprain and hope to be back on the training pitch soon! I will keep you updated here. ?? But most importantly: Congrats to your performance and two goals my friend, @leroysane19.”

It remains to be seen whether Gundogan will be available for City’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace over the weekend.

In a statement, City added that “it is too early at this stage to give an exact time frame on his absence”.
