Man City team news: Pep Guardiola suffers major blow ahead of Chelsea clash as key £52m summer signing ruled out

There will be a clash of the titans in the Premier League this weekend when reigning champions Chelsea take on Manchester City.

The Blues host City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, kick-off is scheduled for 17:30 (GMT).

Chelsea defeated City twice in the league last season and will be hoping for a similar result this weekend. Pep Guardiola’s meanwhile are on rampage having scored 26 goals in their last seven games while conceding just two times.

Man City team news:

Summer signing Benjamin Mendy will miss this weekend’s game after being spotted on crutches earlier this week. The France international has been struggling with injuries ever since his £52 million move from Monaco.

According to the Guardian, Mendy will see a knee specialist in Barcelona as Manchester City fear his extended absence.

Club captain Vincent Kompany will also miss Saturday’s clash with a calf injury.

Ilkay Gundogan is expected to be included in Guardiola’s squad after featuring for the Citizens in the UEFA Champions League against Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Germany international recently returned from a ten-month injury layoff.
