Man City vs Liverpool: Confirmed Lineups – Star midfielder benched, Emre Can starts for Reds

Manchester City have yet to beat Liverpool under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp but will have the chance to do so at the Etihad today.

City have an impressive home record against the Reds losing just one of their last eight head to head clashes.

The Citizens have however, been unable to beat Klopp in their last four meetings.

Pep Guardiola will have Ilkay Gundogan available for the first time since last December but the midfielder of Turkish origin will be benched.

It remains to be seen whether Gundogan will be given playing time in such an important game.

Guardiola will start Sergio Aguero upfront but will be without captain Vincent Kompany.

Reds star Emre Can meanwhile will start in midfield alongside Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum.

Liverpool will be without star man Philippe Coutinho.

Jurgen Klopp has decided to start Mohamed Salah, Firmino and Mane as his attacking three.

Klopp has decided to drop Lovren and summer signing Alex Oxlade Chamberlain has also been benched.

The Reds have a great record against sides in last season’s top seven, losing just one of their last 22 games.
