Man City want star defender one year after leaving Liverpool for Turkey, Citizens enter talks

Slovakian international Martin Skrtel left Liverpool for Fenerbahce last summer ending an eight year association with the club.

The experienced centre-back could be on his way back according to the latest reports emerging from Turkey.

Liverpool fans may be surprised to discover that Skrtel has been linked with a move to Manchester.

Man City have entered talks with the 32-year-old according to Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik.

Per the source, City have offered Skrtel €4 million per-season.

The Citizens will enter direct talks with Fenerbahce depending on the response given by Skrtel’s representatives.

The report is just the latest to claim a return to the Premier League could be on the cards.

Newcastle United, Stoke City Swansea City are also reported to be plotting a move for Skrtel according to Turkish sports newspaper Sozcu.

The defender responded to previous reports of previous Premier League by saying: “I don’t want to leave, I have settled in and want to remain at Fenerbahce.”

The centre-back is a first team star for the Yellow Canaries but they are under pressure from Financial Fair Play and may be forced to consider letting some of the higher paid members of the squad leave over the summer.

Skrtel was a popular figure in Liverpool making a total of 320 appearances in all competitions before joining Fenerbahce on a €6m move last summer.
