Man United suffer transfer blow as Brazilian star midfielder strikes deal with Euro giants

Besiktas have reached an agreement with Anderson Talisca to extend his loan deal by an additional season according to club president Fikret Orman.

Speaking at the Nevzat Demir training grounds in Umraniye, Istanbul, Orman said that they have submitted an official request to enact the clause in Talisca’s contract to keep him on next season.

Talisca does have a two-year loan deal with Besiktas but Benfica also included a release clause fee set at £21 million.

“We have officially signed on his extension, his contract will run for another season,” Orman was quoted as saying by Turkish-Football.

News of Talisca staying will come as a surprise to Besiktas fans as he was closely linked with a summer exit.

Manchester United have been keeping close tabs on Talisca throughout the season according to Turkish-Football.

Additionally Turkish sports radio station Radyospor host Leven Umut Erol shared a video on Twitter revealing that Man United have made Benfica an enquiry for Talisca.

Erol said: “Manchester United are very keen on Talisca, they have made an enquiry to Benfica and are in talks over a potential summer move, it looks like he could be saying goodbye to Besiktas.”

United boss Jose Mourinho – who shares the same agent as Talisca, Jorge Mendes – is a long-term admirer of Talisca but raised the problem Premier League clubs have in signing him back when he was Chelsea boss.

Speaking to Portuguese broadcaster TVI24 [via Daily Star] in 2014, Mourinho said: “I think Benfica hired well. They say Talisca is unknown, but he is only so unknown because he’s only not playing in England because he doesn’t have a work permit. If he had one, he would be here!

The 23-year-old does not have a work permit to play in England and would have to appeal on the grounds of being a special talent for the Home Office to grant him permission to play in the Premier League.

Permit system for non-EU players

FIFA 21-30: 60% and above
FIFA 31-50: 75% and above

Reference period reduced to 12 months for those players aged 21 or under at time of application

The star midfielder has yet to make a full international cap for Brazil.

Talisca has been in great form this season and was directly involved in a career high 21 goals – 15 goals, six assists.

The Brazilian attacking midfielder excelled in European competition and has played a key role in Besiktas’ title run.

The Black Eagles will be crowned Turkish league champions next week if they avoid defeat against Gaziantepspor.
