Man United suffer transfer blow as Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reveals future of star playmaker Mesut Ozil

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Mesut Ozil will remain at the club this season.

The Germany international has been linked with a move away from the north London based club after failing to pen a new contract.

Ozil has under five months left on his contract with Arsenal which means he is free to hold talks with European clubs.

However, Wenger has insisted that Ozil will not be leaving during the January transfer window.

“Yes, of course,” Arsene Wenger stated when asked whether Ozil would be an Arsenal player in February.

Meanwhile, Alexis Sanchez – who also has entered the final months of his contract – has been closely linked with a move away from the Emirates this month.

Manchester United are understood to be interested in signing Mesut Ozil in the summer. Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho worked alongside Mesut Ozil during their spell at Real Madrid.

Ozil missed Arsenal’s defeat against Bournemouth in the Premier League last week due to a knee injury.
